Deep Focus

Privacy Policy

Last updated

Deep Focus is a mobile app published by Codeur d’Ivoire. This policy explains what the app stores, what it can and cannot read, and which third parties are involved. It is short because the app collects very little: Deep Focus has no server of its own, no user accounts, and nothing to sync.

The short version

Deep Focus has no backend. Your sessions, your streak, your daily goal, your blocked-app selection, your activities and your settings are stored in your phone’s local storage and are never uploaded by us, because there is nowhere for them to go.

There is no account, no sign-up and no email address. Uninstalling the app removes everything it stored.

Three third parties are involved and are named below: Google AdMob for advertising on the free tier, Google Firebase for anonymous usage and crash reporting, and RevenueCat with Google Play for purchases.

What is stored on your device

The app stores, locally: your focus history day by day (minutes and number of sessions), your daily goal, your streak, the packages of the apps you chose to block, the activities you created, your reminders, your language and theme preferences, and a small number of counters used to decide when to show a rating prompt or an offer.

None of this is transmitted. It is readable only by Deep Focus on your device, and is deleted with the app.

The accessibility service (app blocking)

To put a blocking screen in front of the apps you selected, Deep Focus uses an Android accessibility service. This is a sensitive permission, so here is precisely what it does.

The service is configured so that it cannot retrieve window content. It is notified when a window changes and is given the package name of the app that came to the front. It compares that name against the list you chose. If it matches and a session is running, it shows the blocking screen. Nothing else happens, nothing is recorded, and nothing is transmitted.

The service reads no text, no field, no password and no screen content of any kind. You can revoke the permission at any time in Android settings, and the app keeps working — sessions simply stop shielding anything.

Notification access (session silence)

This permission is optional and independent of blocking. When granted, Deep Focus can postpone notifications from the apps you blocked, for the length of a session, and let them through as soon as it ends.

It reads which app a notification came from, so it can decide whether to postpone it. It does not store, read the content of, forward, or transmit any notification. Notifications from every other app are untouched, and ongoing notifications — a call in progress, a navigation route — are always left alone.

Advertising (free tier)

The free tier shows ads through Google AdMob. Where required — in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland — Deep Focus presents Google’s own consent form before any ad request is made, and no ad is requested until you have answered it. Your choices can be reopened from the app’s Settings where your region requires that option to remain available.

Google may process device identifiers and advertising data as an independent controller under its own policies. See Google’s privacy policy and “How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services”.

Deep Focus Pro removes ads entirely.

Analytics and crash reporting

The app uses Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics to understand which features are used and to be told when the app crashes. The events sent are a fixed, closed list — things like “a session was completed”, “the paywall was shown”, “a purchase completed”.

These events never carry text you wrote. The name of an activity you create, for example, never leaves your device: an event about it would carry a yes-or-no flag, never the words.

Purchases

Subscriptions and the lifetime purchase are processed by Google Play. Deep Focus never sees your payment details. RevenueCat is used to check whether a purchase entitles you to Pro; it receives an anonymous identifier and the purchase receipt issued by the store.

Children

Deep Focus is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them.

Your rights

Because we hold no personal data about you on any server of ours, there is no account to access, export or delete. Deleting everything the app holds is a matter of uninstalling it.

For the data processed by Google and RevenueCat, exercise your rights through those providers, and through your device’s own advertising and privacy settings.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the date at the top of this page changes with it, and a material change will be signalled in the app.
